Beethoven in Dance

Recently premiered last December in Paris, this creation of the exquisite choreographer and director of the Biarritz Ballet, Thierry Malandain, is his great tribute to Beethoven for the celebration of his 250th anniversary. With the experience of having put The Creatures of Prometheus in dance before, the director of the company of this glamorous French city has joined here the Cantata 112 of The Ruins of Athens and the Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral” to share with his refined movement the emotion of the musician for nature and for ancient Greece. The costume design evokes that recalled ancient Hellenic world, with simple white robes that bring serenity to the luminous staging. Malandain maintains as an artistic commitment the maximum of the composer, “beauty could save the world”. For this reason, he continues to be the promoter of academic dance with his contemporary neoclassical ballets, accurately interpreted by their magnificent dancers.
